Transamorous

Transamorous is a term used by some people to describe attraction to transgender people. It is most commonly used by cisgender men who are attracted to trans women, though it is not limited to any one gender or sexual orientation. This term better describes a pattern of attraction, and is typically not considered a sexual or romantic attraction. People who use the term often intend it to signal that their attraction is respectful and not based solely on fetishizing someone’s trans status. However, the term is debated. Many transgender people dislike or reject it, feeling that it centers attraction to “transness” rather than recognizing trans people simply as men, women, or nonbinary people. Because of this, some prefer alternative language such as trans-attracted. Others emphasize that respectful behavior matters more than the label used. Still others argue that a cis person can prefer dating trans women without fetishizing them, but that such preferences don’t need a special label.
