Sadosexual

Sadosexual usually refers to someone whose sexual attraction centers on sadism, meaning they are aroused by giving consensual pain, humiliation, or intense sensations to a partner. In kink communities, some people use the term to describe a sexual identity. Some people use the term more narrowly. They mean that they only feel strong sexual desire when sadistic dynamics are possible. For example, they may mainly feel attracted to partners who are submissive or masochistic, because those partners allow the sadistic dynamic they want. Others use the term more loosely. In these cases, it simply refers to someone who strongly enjoys sadistic roles, such as a sadist, Dominant, or sadistic Top. In this context, it describes behavior or preferences rather than orientation. The term is not universally accepted as a sexual orientation. Some people argue that sexual orientation describes who someone is attracted to, while sadism describes what they like to do in a scene. Outside kink communities, the word can also appear in negative or critical contexts. It may be used to accuse someone of taking pleasure in hurting others, without implying consent. In BDSM spaces, however, the term usually refers to consensual sadistic desire and negotiated power exchange.
