Safe Call

In kink and BDSM, a safe call refers to an arrangement a person makes for a friend or partner to call them (or vice versa) while they're meeting with someone new. It is a practice used to reduce the risk of meeting up with people, usually used in combination with other steps like letting a friend (or partner) know where one will be and the contact information for the individual one is meeting. At the meetup, the person may tell the individual they're meeting that they have a safe call setup. Sometimes, the content of the call is kept secret, and there is a specific phrase (similar to safe words) set up, so if the person says that phrase, the friend knows there's an issue. If the friend does not get that call, they agree to follow up. Usually the first step is calling the person at the meetup to make sure they did not forget to call. If they don't get an answer or do get one and the safe phrase is said, the friend calls the police or provides other assistance.
