Handler

A person, usually a Dominant, who takes the lead role in a pet play dynamic, caring for and directing the activities of a pet. In broader kink contexts, a Handler may also act as a Protector during heavy or high-intensity scenes, particularly when participants enter non-human or altered headspaces, watching over both the bottom and the Top to help ensure safety, consent, and emotional stability throughout the play.
