Floozy

A floozy is a bold, flirtatious, and sexually expressive person who embraces their sensuality without shame or apology. A floozy is someone who's easy to get to have sex with, a person who engages in sex entirely without or with a minimum of sexual discrimination and resistance. The term, once used to demean, has been reclaimed by some as a playful badge of confidence, pleasure, and defiance of outdated norms around gender and sexuality. Both males and females can be said to be floozies. While floozy can imply a relatively low level of sexual selectivity (i.e., being less resistant, less reluctant, or less exclusionary than average), it does not imply poor judgment, low intelligence, or lack of self-respect. In fact, floozy is distinct from terms like “bimbo” or “airhead,” which often imply a simplicity of thought. A floozy may be discerning, self-aware, and intentional in their sexual choices, but this choice of role still signals a higher-than-average sexual openness. In kink, self-identifying as a floozy can serve as shorthand. It often signals to others a higher likelihood of being open to sexual encounters, especially outside of strict monogamy or traditional dating structures. For some, the term is used playfully to communicate approachability and interest without having to explain specific preferences in detail. ### Origins of the Term Historically, a floozy was considered to be someone who was loose, easy, or slutty at a time when promiscuity was considered taboo. Unlike "slut," however, floozy often lacked the moral judgment, and signaled a higher-than-average willingness to engage sexually.
