Exhibitionism

Exposing one's intimate parts – such as genitals, buttocks, or breasts – in a public or semi-public environment for attention, arousal, sexual gratification, and/or other motivations. Many consider virtual exposure - such as nude selfies and internet sites - as a form of exhibitionism as well. This can also include creating contrast by wearing revealing or sexualized clothing in unexpected environments, where the setting itself increases attention, tension, and the likelihood of being noticed. Exhibitionism can include performing sexual acts in view of others for similar motivations and to increase sexual arousal and gratification. This is known as Martymachlia. Most exhibitionists seek out consenting observers in a wide variety of possible scenarios, from simple voyeuristic play to group sex and public events. When exhibitionists seek out non-consenting observers, either adults, children, or both, it has legal implications and is likely to be characterized as "exhibitionistic disorder." Exhibitionists differ from nudists/naturists in that nudists and naturists do not have a sexual or erotic motivation; many frown on any explicit sexual behavior in public settings.
