Splosh

Splosh is a specific type of wet and messy and food play in which usually the bottom, though potentially both partners, have various types of food thrown at, poured, or otherwise smeared onto them. This is done in order to become messy or coated with it. While eating the food may be part of the play, the majority of the play involves the deliberate messiness of the food being smeared onto the person's body. Preferred types of food for this tend to be things that are sticky, messy, and frequently "gross" in some form or another. For instance, Jello wrestling could be seen as a form of splosh. Other common favorites are moist pastries such as cakes and pies, melted chocolate and caramel, soft fruit such as bananas, and semiliquid foods like puddings and flan. ### Health and Safety Concerns With Splosh: - Sugary and sticky foods should be kept away from intimate areas, especially vaginas; unless thoroughly removed, yeast can grow and cause great discomfort. - Melted chocolate, caramel, and the like need to be carefully temperature checked before play; sugar's boiling point can cause severe burns, and the sugar will stick to skin, making the damage worse - Always make sure of food allergies before applying the food even externally. Someone allergic to peanuts, for instance, could have a severe reaction to peanut butter applied externally as well as internally. - While some people do enjoy eating the food used in splosh as part of the play, it should be considered risky, as it is coming into prolonged contact with air, bodies, and potentially contaminated ground as well. - Before setting up for splosh play, make certain there is a way for the person to get clean when finished. Clinging food can invite bacteria, and while it's likely to not be much of an issue, skin irritation or infection could occur if left too long. Sweet foods, in particular, can cause overgrowths of yeast (see above). - Many parties do not allow splosh play, or only in designated areas.
