Gamma

In kink, Gamma is often used as “Gamma male” to describe a man who is intelligent, empathetic, and romantic, but who may also feel uncertain about his social role or avoid overt displays of dominance. The Gamma archetype tends not to fit traditional power hierarchies, preferring emotional depth or intellect over physical authority. When used in BDSM or kink, Gamma can mean: - A nontraditional Dominant, or someone who leads with empathy, intellect, or psychological influence rather than physical authority. - A switch or submissive man who rejects conventional dominance/submission stereotypes and defines his own power dynamic. In kink, this term and its counterparts are used mostly for roleplay in primal play dynamics. Not to be confused with the way the manosphere pushes these terms as being related to the way men and women are inherently hierarchical.
