Fuckboy

Fuckboy is a term typically reserved for males who are overly confident and tend to play the field. A fuckboy is notoriously casual, emotionally disconnected and has multiple partners with little attachment. While people self-identify this way, it is also a derogatory (or even just descriptive) term to refer to others. He’s giving “fuckboy vibes” implied the person mentioned appears to be interested in sex and short term engagements. ### Origins of the Term The term is said to have been circulating in AAVE (African American Vernacular English) slang before being introduced to a larger audience in 2002 by the rapper Cam'ron in the song "Boy, Boy." The term was an insult, meaning a man who was weak, who was useless. By around 2015, the term had been appropriated from AAVE into the wider population and had taken on the meaning noted above.
