Demian

Demian (also known as demi², demirose, demi squared, or demi-aroace) describes someone who is both demisexual and demiromantic. A demian person experiences sexual and romantic attraction only after forming a deep emotional bond. Because it combines both demiromantic and demisexual orientations, demian can be understood as a type of aroace identity. A common misconception is that demisexual people are “picky” or “frigid.” In reality, demisexuality is a valid orientation, just like heterosexuality or homosexuality. The key difference is that sexual attraction isn’t immediate but arises within the context of an established emotional connection. ### Origins of the Term Demian is a relatively recent label that appears to have been coined on Reddit in 2019 or 2020.
