Crushing On

"Crushing on" is a lighthearted, informal way to express romantic or emotional interest in someone. In real life, a crush often comes before anything formal, committed, or reciprocated has developed. It reflects attraction, admiration, or infatuation, and can be playful, flirty, or sincere. At least at first, a crush is often held in secret. As a FetLife relationship status, "crushing on" is used to indicate consensual appreciation or romantic interest. When chosen as a relationship status, it must be approved by the person who is being "crushed on." Unlike in real life, this type of crush is both public and agreed to by both parties. Crushing On is also a FetLife feature that allows members to privately mark who they have a crush on. If both members mark a crush on each other, the crush is revealed to those members only; it is not displayed for others to view.
