Concubine

A concubine is a BDSM role that refers to a submissive or slave whose physical, sexual, and financial needs are maintained by an authority figure. A concubine is more than a partner, but never a spouse. They are usually kept at home, away from public view, though often with some autonomy in how the household is run. Some submissives or slaves also use this term for different reasons. Historically, “concubine” described women in polygamous societies who lived with a man but didn’t share the same status as his wife. In modern kink, some people are drawn to a similar dynamic: a submissive who lives with a dominant who is married to someone else. This can appeal to aromantic submissives who wish to live with and serve a Dominant, while encouraging them to pursue romantic relationships with others who can fulfill emotional or romantic needs that the submissive doesn’t wish to provide.
