Boytoy

Boytoy is a term usually used to refer to a masculine-identified person, usually younger, who is used by someone as a consensual "no strings attached" sexual or kinky playmate. A boytoy is usually, but not always, paired with an older woman, though the partner can be of any gender or age. Boytoy may also be spelled "boy toy." A boytoy is frequently considered attractive and/or desirable by their partner, and used in consensual objectification for sexual and/or emotional entertainment. Some boytoys are financially supported or "treated," while for others the appeal is entirely in sex. Boytoy relationships may be long-lasting, but no matter how long-term, the expectation tends to be that they will be temporary and free from expectation of romantic bonds. A boytoy is neither assumed to be Dominant nor submissive. Instead, the relationship is a more vanilla consensual objectification of the person as a trophy playmate. Some relationships can involve kink, though usually it is bedroom only, and there is no expectation for either side to be the Top or Dominant; only the expectation of the boytoy being pleasing, whatever that means for the pair. ### Why People Are Into It The dynamic is one usually seen as mutually beneficial and mutually enjoyable. The boytoy receives praise, sex, and the euphoria of being treated as a prized object (consensually). The partner (who doesn't generally have a specific term) receives sex, the feeling of being desired by someone perceived as a prize, and the (usually personal but sometimes more public) status of having a desirable partner. A good comparative description for a boytoy would be "arm candy:" an attractive and desirable person one keeps on their arm to show off in order to show one's good fortune.
